UK industry vet Tom Stone founds new studio

Tom Stone has founded a brand new developer.

In a post on LinkedIn, the UK games industry vet announced the creation of Second Star Games. This studio is based in Manchester and has already lined up its first project – "a well-loved and globally-renowned IP". Given Stone's history at TT Games working on the LEGO series, we wouldn't be surprised if it was something in that vein.

Second Star already has a "core team of industry veterans" but is looking to fill a number of positions.

Stone was the MD of TT Games for almost 18 years, between 2003 and 2020. In 2021, he joined PowerWash Simulator maker FuturLab as its chairman before departing after three years. He has also worked as the managing director of financial outfit Juno Capital Partners since 2021.

"We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a new studio based in Manchester with a mission to become a world-leading developer and publisher of magical gaming experiences for young gamers and their families," Stone wrote.

"Our first game will bring to life a well-loved and globally-renowned IP. We can’t wait to share more details about this partnership, and the studio itself, in the coming weeks."
