Netflix games boss Verdu moving into new role

The VP of Netflix's games business, Mike Verdu, is moving into a new position at the company.

That's according to GamesIndustry.biz, which reports that while the details of his new role are not finalised, it is related to "innovation in game development". It is also reportedly tied to the streaming giant's 'increased ambitions" in the space.

"I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and excited to start a new team at Netflix on the cutting edge of game innovation," said Verdu.

"New technologies have always been key to creativity in games development and, as an entrepreneur at heart, this initiative is right in my happy place."

Verdu joined Netflix from Facebook in 2021. Since his arrival, the streaming giant has made numerous studio acquisitions and released a slate of games to its mobile app. Netflix is working on a games streaming service, too, apparently, and is also developing a triple-A PC title.
