Former Phoenix Labs execs found new studio Critical Path

Two former C-suite staff at developer Phoenix Labs have founded a brand new studio called Critical Path Games.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the venture has been founded by Jeanne-Marie Owens and Jesse Houston.

The former was previously chief operating officer at Phoenix Labs, while the latter served as its CEO. Critical Path Games has set itself a pretty big goal – creating a brand new game genre.

"We have been working together for more than 15 years at this point, and as we came out of Phoenix Labs and reflected on the last decade, we found ourselves yearning to take those learnings and apply them to a new problem set," Houston said.

"In reflection, we had felt our most effective and inspired in the earlier years with a small, co-located team, tackling the new and difficult problem of cross-platform play and developing a game for an underserved audience."
