Epic has raised $50m from Fortnite for Ukraine

Games firm Epic has raised over $50 million for humanitarian relief for Ukraine.

In a post on Twitter, the developer and publisher said that it had reached this milestone on March 22nd, the second day that it was donating all proceeds from Fortnite to these causes. If this keeps up, Epic is going to raise a considerable sum for charities Direct Relief, UNICEF, the UN World Food Programme and the UNHCR, the UN's refugee agency.

Between March 20th and April 3rd, all revenue from Fortnite is being donated to humanitarian relief. Xbox is also donating money it makes from Epic's battle royale.

By March 21st, Epic had raised $36 million.

In a post on Twitter, Ukrainian vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov said: "Thank you Epic Games for understanding that people's lives are not a game. Your support is crucially important for us."
