European Games Developer Federation rolls out online event

Games studio trade body European Games Developer Federation (EGDF) is holding an online trade show.

European Games BizDev Gathering is taking place on May 13th and 14th and will allow pitching opportunities to companies across Europe. At the moment, more than 50 global games firms have agreed to take part in the event.

Over half of that figure are publishers, including PlayStation, Take-Two's Private Division label, ID@Xbox, Raw Fury, Curve and NetEase, while investment firms such as London Venture Partners, Mail.ru and Kowloon Nights are also going to be in attendance.

The event is likely an attempt to try and make up for the lack of networking and deal-brokering opportunities given that most video game trade shows have been cancelled for 2019 due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

"We are humbled by the reception of the event so far. And we want to thank all who have or will join this effort," EGDT president Hendrik Lesser said.

"Strengthening our industry through making deals to make great games jointly is fighting the good fight. I am glad that so many associations from all of over Europe and backgrounds are in too. Let's do this."
