Former StarCraft commentator Geoff Robinson passes away

Games personality Geoff "iNcontroL" Robinson has passed away at the age of 33.

Robinson was a StarCraft commentator and pro being one of the first people to play Blizzard’s StarCraft 2 pre-beta.

He was a US champion competitor and captained the inaugural Evil Geniuses StarCraft pro gaming team before moving into other esport roles as a commentator, host and streamer. Robinson worked in these various roles across the industry for over a decade.

Geoff regularly streamed on his Twitch channel with morning and afternoon sessions, focusing mainly on strategy games such as StarCraft 2, Dawn of War and XCOM.

The cause of death is yet to be revealed; the only detail released is that it was a sudden illness. Geoff Robinson's death was confirmed on his social media accounts, including Twitter (below).

"With immense grief, we announce Geoff's unexpected passing due to sudden illness Saturday,” a statement read. “We ask privacy as his family works to understand what happened and make arrangements. To honour Geoff or offer comfort to his family, we suggest donations to @SoCalBulldog, which he loved,"
