Michael B. Jordan will headline a new series of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six movies

Black Panther and Creed star Michael B. Jordan will star in a new series of Rainbow Six films.

Variety reports that Paramount has snapped up Jordan to play protagonist John Clark in film adaptations of Tom Clancy novels Without Remorse and Rainbow Six.

Clark has previously been played by actors Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears. Generally a side-character to stories starring Clancy favourite Jack Ryan, Clark is placed centre-stage in these two novels.

Prequel novel Without Remorse explores the character’s backstory leading up to his joining the CIA, while Rainbow Six details the formation of what would become gaming’s favourite special forces team.

Without Remorse will be first up, though it might be a long time before it hits cinema screens. While Jordan has been snatched up, Paramount is still looking for a writer and director for the project.

While Ubisoft owns rights to use Tom Clancy’s name when it comes to games, films and shows based on the late author’s work have continued to run. Paramount’s Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski, launched to critical approval on Netflix this year.
