There’s a Super Meat Boy sequel on the way

A follow-up to the wildly popular indie smash hit Super Meat Boy is coming out next year.

Announced during a Nintendo Switch livestream, Super Meat Boy Forever is coming to PC as well as Nintendo’s handheld – and seemingly pretty much every console – in early 2018.

The title was announced a while back as a mobile release, before disappearing off the map altogether. 

Oh, and the ‘Forever’ part of the game’s name isn’t just a meaningless suffix, either. It’s a reference to the fact that the difficulty of levels increased upon replay, with stages becoming more dangerous each time. And this time around, the titular Meat Boy can punch things.

If you were a fan of the original Super Meat Boy and can’t wait for a brand new challenging platformer, it might be worth checking out The End is Nigh from Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen, which launched this summer.
