Spelunky and Downwell developers collaborate on 50 new games

The creators behind hit indie titles Spelunky and Downwell are teaming up on a new collection of 50 games.

Derek Yu, the man behind classic roguelike Spelunky, and Downwell maker Ojiro Fumoto are two of five developers working on the UFO 50. This is a collection of 50 titles that include platformers RPGs, shmups and puzzle titles.

The games come with an 8-bit aesthetic, and in the release's FAQ section, the team says releases will be “slightly smaller than commercial 8-bit titles from the ‘80s” and that it could take hundreds of hours to finish.

As well as Yu and Fumoto, Eirik Suhrke, Jon Perry and Paul Huban are working on the project.

The collection is coming to PC first in 2018.
