Respawn vets form new studio Wildlight

Former staff from Titanfall maker Respawn Entertainment have created a brand new developer called Wildlight Entertainment.

The venture has been co-founded by CEO Dusty Welch and design director Jason McCord; the former was previously Respawn's COO and the GM of Apex Legends, while the latter was the battle royale title's design director. The developer is headed up by Chad Grenier.

LinkedIn shows that there are currently 27 members of staff, 24 of which are veterans of Respawn. Four workers were previously employees of Infinity Ward, too. On its website, Wildlight says that it is already fully funded – though where that money has come from is unclear – and is working on a brand new IP "for some time."

The company says it is interested in creating "big, bold, original gaming universes of epic quality and scale."

On Twitter, Wildlight has said that it is a remote-first developer, though it has offices in LA and Seattle, hardly surprising given that most of the team has come from West Coast developers.

"We're very excited today to announce our new game studio, Wildlight Entertainment," the firm said.

"We've got big dreams of creating an epic shooter IP."
