Netflix hires Scopely vet Rahimi to head up game studios

Streaming firm Netflix has hired Amir Rahimi (pictured) as the VP of its new game studios.

As revealed by GamesBeat, the Scopely vet is heading to Netflix to head up the company's new game development outfit. He will be reporting to Mike Verdu, who joined the firm earlier this year.

"Today was my first day on the job as head of game studios at Netflix," Rahimi said on LinkedIn.

"This position will take me one big step away from the actual game development process (which I love dearly) but it will give me the opportunity to greenlight games that will put player delight above all else (no more stressing over monetization!) and maybe (hopefully) play a small part in shaping the future of the industry. Super excited to get started."

Verdu added in a statement: “I am pleased to welcome Amir to Netflix where he will build out our games studio team and content library for Netflix Games. His extensive experience in the games industry will be key as we look to grow our catalog of games for our members around the world to enjoy.”

Netflix acquired Oxenfree maker Night School Studio in September of this year.
