Publisher 2K Games has made some changes to the leadership at the developer of a new BioShock project, Cloud Chamber.
Bloomberg reports that studio head Kelley Gilmore has been fired, while creator director Hogarth de la Plante has moved from franchise creative director to a publishing position.
This follows 2K being unhappy with some aspects of the new BioShock title; in particular, the game's narrative has reportedly been earmarked as an area that needs to be improved. On top of that, it's reported that Cloud Chamber staff have been told that the studio needs to be more efficient and agile.
“We are working hard to set BioShock up for the best possible future,” a 2K Games spokesperson said.
“Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one. We are working closely with leadership at the studio to define this path.”
They added that 2K is: “fully committed to ensuring we deliver a BioShock game that exceeds the lofty expectations of our fans.”
In 2019, 2K set up Cloud Chamber to work on the next BioShock game. The last release in the series was 2013's BioShock Infinite.
