Rockstar outlines rules for GTA Online RP servers

Developer and publisher Rockstar Games has banned non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from the roleplay servers for Grand Theft Auto Online.

In a post on the game's support page, the studio said that it would be allowing roleplay (RP) servers, where users can take on the role of cops and robbers and so on. Rockstar has, however, laid down some rules as to what users are and are not allowed to do within these spaces.

For example, the firm has said that Rockstar trademarks and IP are not allowed to be misused, while players are also not able to bring in external IP into RP servers. Furthermore, these areas cannot be used for commercial exploitation, so users can't sell loot boxes for real world money and so on. As part of this, players aren't allowed to use crypto or crypto-adjacent assets, such as NFTs.

Finally, users are not able to make new games within RP servers or interfere with Rockstar's online servers.

RP servers for Grand Theft Auto Online aren't new, but this seems to be the first time that Rockstar has directly addressed them.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in the works, though around 90 videos of in-development footage was leaked onto the internet back in September
