The Witcher TV series renewed for a second season before the first episode airs

Netflix’s The Witcher series has already been confirmed for a second season.

As revealed by showrunner Laura Hissrich - via Twitter - the TV show based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and the hit games by CD Projekt Red has already been called for more episodes before season has been released..

“I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures... in Season Two,” said Hissrich.

“I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us.”

According to Variety, season two will match the premiere season with eight episodes, it is expected to air in 2021.

Hissrich revealed that plans have been made for seven seasons of The Witcher. The new series is also set to step away from its fantasy roots, as it embraces the elements of horror.

The Witcher will come to Netflix on December 20th, the news came with a new trailer. Our first look at the TV adaptation was in July, in the programmes first official trailer.

In September last year, it was confirmed that Henry Cavil - best known for portraying Superman in the DC Universe - will be taking on the lead role as Geralt of Rivia.
