Valve reveals Steam Machine, Steam Frame and Steam Controller hardware

PC giant Valve has announced three new pieces of hardware in its Steam Machine, Steam Frame and Steam Controller.

First up is the Steam Machine, a cube-like and compact PC that appears to head off Microsoft's console-meets-PC mentality that the company is teasing for its own next hardware. The tech runs SteamOS and works with, next on the list, the Steam Controller.

This is basically what happens if you take the screen out of a Steam Deck. Valve's new gamepad features the usual face and shoulder buttons, while also boasting grip buttons on the underside and trackpads. Finally, the Steam Frame is Valve's next foray into virtual reality; it can either be used standalone or can be used via a PC.

"We've been super happy with the success of Steam Deck and PC gamers have continued asking for even more ways to play all the great titles in their Steam libraries," Valve boss Gabe Newell said.

"Our work over the years on other hardware and even more importantly on SteamOS has enabled Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame to do just that."
