Square Enix Collective vet Elliott is Modern Wolf's new CEO

Phil Elliott will soon be the CEO of indie publisher Modern Wolf.

The industry vet will be starting this new role in March. Elliott was previously at Square Enix's Collective indie label, becoming the project's lead in 2013 before being promoted to director of community and indie development three years later. From 2017 onwards, he was Square Enix's director of indie publishing.

Prior to joining Square, he worked in the games media, serving as editor at both GamesIndustry.biz and GameSpot during his career.

“Having watched closely from afar, it’s clear that Modern Wolf is at an exciting and crucial juncture in its journey as a publisher,” Elliott said. “I’m hugely excited to be coming onboard at a time when there’s a lot of momentum, and working with the team to nurture the existing portfolio, grow the team, and take the Modern Wolf label to lofty new heights.”

The boss of Supernova Capital – which owns Modern Wolf – Paul Wedgewood added: “Modern Wolf is a pivotal part of Supernova’s portfolio and ambitions in game publishing. Phil brings with him the reputation and experience to supercharge Modern Wolf’s output in the indie development space.”
