Japanese studio Cygames has settled a legal dispute with publishing giant Konami over Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
As spotted by IGN, the Silent Hill firm has reached a settlement with Cygames parent company CyberAgent; the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Konami sued Cygames in 2023 following the release of Umamusume: Pretty Derby; the publisher claimed that the game infringed on 18 of its patents. Furthermore, the company demanded that the studio stop selling and working on the title. As if that wasn't enough, Konami was after $26 million (¥4 billion) in damages.
"The CyberAgent group respects the efforts of creators at companies in the game industry, including Konami Digital Entertainment, and the numerous games they have created," the company's CEO and president, Susumu Fujita wrote.
"Through this settlement, we will once again strive for the further development of the game industry."
