CHARTS: Hollow Knight Silksong shoots to No.1 on Steam

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Hollow Knight Silksong was the highest-grossing game on Steam last week.

The eagerly awaited metroidvania debuted on September 4th; there was no option to pre-order the game so there were a huge number of sales following its release. In fact, demand was so great that consumers inadvertently took down Steam in trying to buy the game – the platform experienced issues for around three hours. Since release, Silksong was recorded a peak of 587,150 concurrent players on Steam.

Counter-Strike 2 is bumped down to second place for the week, while pre-orders for Borderlands 4 rose up five spots to No.3 following another promotional beat for the looter shooter. That is due out on September 11th.

Helldivers 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds both dip two spots to fourth and fifth respectively, while NBA 2K26 rose three spots to No.6 following its September 5th release. Valve's Steam Deck hardware dropped two spots to seventh, coming in ahead of Path of Exile 2, while also fell two positions to No.8. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 returned to the Top 100 in ninth place thanks to a 50 per cent price cut – and details about a second year of content – while Baldur's Gate 3 rose up 19 places to No.10 on the back of a 25 per cent price cut.

Here is the Steam Top Ten for the week ending September 9th:

1. Hollow Knight Silksong, Team Cherry,
2. Counter-Strike 2, Valve
3. Borderlands 4, 2K Games (P)
4. Helldivers 2, Sony
5. PUBG: Battlegrounds, Krafton
6. NBA 2K26, 2K Games
7. Steam Deck, Valve
8. Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gears
9. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus Interactive
10. Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios
