Chinese games giant NetEase has shut down T-Minus Zero.
The company confirmed the news to Game Developer, before studio head Rich Vogel posted on LinkedIn, saying that the firm had helped it try to find investors. T-Minus Zero was set up back in August 2023.
This is the latest studio that NetEase has shut down, following in the footsteps of Jar of Sparks and Liquid Swords. Reporting emerged shortly after this kicked off that the company was rolling back its investments in non-Chinese studios.
"In these moments, you can't help but reflect on how our team has overcome obstacles and transformed them into something groundbreaking. The dedication and passion each team member brought were the foundation of our success," Vogel wrote of T-Minus Zero's closure.
"The amount of work we achieved in creating a playable demo was truly impressive, demonstrating the strength of what our team can accomplish. We recognise that now may not be the best time to seek funding given today’s climate, but our playable demo proves our potential to develop something fresh and exciting that will resonate with players for years. We take pride in the solid foundation we’ve built together."
