Overlay platform Overwolf raises $16 million in Intel Capital-led funding round

Game and services developer Overwolf has raised $16 million in its third funding round since 2011.

The investment was led by Intel Capital, with additional investment from Liberty Technology Venture Capital and existing Overwolf investors.

The Tel Aviv, Isreal-based company runs an overlay platform that game developers use to run apps and enhancements on top of their PC games. Through this, Overwolf offers various apps for games, from coaching services to analytics solutions and video recording tools.

The new funds will be poured into its existing developer ecosystem, as well as developing new tools.

“This round of funding marks a new chapter in Overwolf’s journey, and these resources will enable us to do more for our community of developers and partners than ever before,” said Overwolf CEO Uri Marchand in a statement.

“Through our close collaboration with Intel, which shares our passion for building open and neutral ecosystems, we’re bringing our developer partners features that will help their business grow.”

Earlier in the year, Overwolf and Intel announced an investment fund worth $7 million for developers creating apps for “hardcore gamers”.
