Psyonix reveals the exact drop rates for Rocket League loot boxes

Rocket League developer Psyonix has revealed the exact odds for loot box drop rates in the competitive car-footy title.

Speaking on the Rocket League site, community manager Devin Connors outlined the game’s current loot box system ahead of “major changes” coming to the game’s progression system this summer.

Connors runs down the exact percentage chance of a player receiving a given rarity: 55 per cent for rare, 28 per cent for very rare, four per cent for exotic and one per cent for Black Market. Items also have a 25 per cent chance to be given the painted and certified attributes respectively.

The post then fully explains the game’s “three-step” process for determining items.

“The system first determines what rarity level to choose from based on the percentages above. Next, the system determines which item within that rarity group is dropped. Finally, the system determines if the item will drop with Painted and/or Certified attributes.”

Should any of the systems or percentages change in future, Connors assures readers that the studio will “be sure to post the new numbers [on its website]”.
