Twitch streamer in hot water for refunding Sonic Forces live

Streamer WeeGeeTheGod has come under fire for supposedly abusing Steam's refund policy.

As reported by Polygon, the personality - real name Cade McKown - streamed Sega's newly-released Sonic Forces. Upon finishing the title, he applied to get his money back from Steam.

The platform's refund policy, which came into effect in 2015 - lets consumers refund a title if they have owned it for less than two weeks or played it for less than two hours. This isn't entirely rigid, with the streamer able to get his money back after playing for two hours and forty minutes.

On the refund application, McKown wrote that he bought the game by mistake; but speaking to Polygon he had another reason.

"As hard as it is for some to believe, I played a video game on stream to have fun, not to nefariously milk it for Twitch donations,” McKown said. “After beating the entire game in under three hours and coming to the conclusion that it was absolutely abysmal, I requested a refund with the reason being: ‘It's not fun'."

This isn't the first time that he has done this either, refunding Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last November.
