Blizzard co-founder Morhaime opens up new games develope, Dreamhaven

The co-founder of games giant Blizzard Mike Morhaime (pictured) has set up a brand new studio.

As reported by GamesBeat, the new venture is called Dreamhaven and is headed up by Morhaime, while his wife Amy Morhaime is heading up operations. So far the venture has hired 27 staff, largely former Blizzard employees.

Dreamhaven hopes to have a number of different projects in the works with the company currently being comprised of two different studios. The first is Moonshot and is headed up by Blizzard vets Jason Chayes, Dustin Browder, and Ben Thompson, while the second is Secret Door. That side of the company is led by Chris Sigaty, Alan Dabiri, and Eric Dodds.

“My wife Amy and I were working at Blizzard and left at the end of 2018,” Morhaime said.

“We didn’t have anything planned. What were going to unplug and take a bunch of time off to travel. We actually went to the HomeStory Cup in Germany for their StarCraft II tournament. We took our daughter.”

Morhaime left Blizzard in April 2019 having vacated the president's chair the previous October.
