Grand Theft Auto V, Metal Gear and Hellblade vets join Playground Games

The developer of the Forza Horizon games has made a number of top-level hires for a brand new open-world RPG.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, EA DICE and Kojima Productions vet Sean Eyestone comes on board as production direction having worked on open-world games such as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain.

Meanwhile, there's a new chief designer in Will Kennedy, who joined the studio in July following almost a decade at Grand Theft Auto studio Rockstar North. Meanwhile, principal combat designer Juan Fernandez di Simon has been snapped up from Hellblade maker Ninja Theory having previously spent three years at the developer of Rime, Tequila Works.

This news comes as Playground has bought space for a second studio in Leamington Spa, as per an announcement by property firm Bromwich Hardy. This forms 17,365 square feet of space.

“ We are delighted to have secured St Albans House which comes at an exciting time in our growth," CEO Gavin Raeburn said.

"The building fits our needs and compliments our existing office at Rossmore House also in Leamington Spa”

This follows the studio expanding its office space in the summer with plans to double its workforce by the end of 2017.
