Surprise - the PC Indie Pitch and Mobile Mixer are coming to Gamescom 2018

There are still two days to go until the Big Indie Pitch at ChinaJoy this Friday - and we’re already planning the next leg of the international developer’s competition.

Taking place during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, up to 20 teams will compete for the chance to walk away with prizes worth thousands of dollars in promotional and consultancy services across the Steel Media empire, including Pocket Gamer.

Now’s the time to enter if you think your project has what it takes to impress our panel of expert judges.

A rapid-fire whirlwind

The competition is a rapid-fire whirlwind of indie dev competition as each entry is given just four minutes to impress the judges. Of course, every team hopes to emerge victorious, but every single contestant will receive invaluable expert feedback on their work.

The winners will be entered into the grand finale of the year, the Big Indie Awards, which take place this November at Korea’s leading games event and season sponsor, G-STAR. The Cologne round is also sponsored by indieSKY.

Taking place at the Hyatt Regency Cologne Hotel on Wednesday August 22nd - conveniently close to the Koelnmesse conference centre - submissions for the Big Indie Pitch at Gamescom are open now

Next steps

You can find out more about The Big Indie Pitch in our info pack. And if you’re not ready to pitch yourself, you’re still welcome to join us and cheer on your champions. Tickets are free and available here.

But if you are ready, willing and able to join in the fun and put your project in front of the global games industry, all you need to do is submit your game. Just make sure you’ve done that by Wednesday August 15th.

Mobile Mixer at Gamescom too!

In a knockout one-two combo, we’ll be hosting the must-attend party of the week; the Mobile Mixer right next door to the Big Indie Pitch on Wednesday August 22nd. Building on a great debut for the after-hours shindig at last year’s Gamescom, Pocket Gamer and G-STAR return for 2018 with the perfect end to a busy day at the conference.

Networking, Panels and Pitches

Doors open at 6:30pm with drinks and canapés to lighten your heart and line your stomach for the most sociable networking until 11pm. But it’s not all socialising and schnapps; you won’t want to miss the entertaining panel featuring big name industry figures at 8pm, curated by season sponsors G-STAR.

Business and pleasure

With opportunities at the Cologne Mobile Mixer to chat with people from across the industry, hear from an expert panel, watch live pitches and free drinks galore, you’re bound to have a good time - and do some business too. Book your place now
