New research shows just how many brand new games are coming to Steam this year compared to before.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad reports (below) that 1,300 new releases have hit the digital storefront since the roll-out of Steam Direct back in June.
Ahmad goes on to note that the number of games launched to date so far this year is not only already higher than the number that launched in 2015 in full, but about to eclipse the total number of games that launched between 2006 and 2014. That’s not a typo.

Back at the start of August, Ico Partners Thomas Bidaux pointed out that 1,000 new games had launched since Steam Direct’s roll-out.
This service replaced the Greenlight process, with developers now having to shell out $100 to have their game sold. There are some… interesting titles coming out, as Ahmad has pointed out (below).
