TIGA releases funding guide for UK games developers

UK games trade body TIGA has published a new guide to help UK-based developers understand the different funding options available to them.

The Sources of Finance for UK Games Companies report was written by Games Investor Consulting in partnership with TIGA. It details and assesses the third-party funding options that can be accessed in the UK.

These options include equity investment from various kinds of investors, crowdfunding and project finance schemes. The report also details government funding and tax rebates that are available to developers.

Guide to the labyrinth

“Access to finance is the most persistent challenge facing UK games developers and digital publishers," said TIGA CEO Richard Wilson.

"Our report provides a detailed, comprehensive and illuminating guide through the labyrinth of different funding options available for businesses in our industry. We hope the guide will help developers to access suitable sources of finance and grow their businesses."

TIGA most recently set out plans to help the UK games industry increase studio employment by 5,000 staff by 2022. It also wants to help grow the number of studios in the country to 1,200.

You can find out more about the Sources of Finance for UK Games Companies report and how to access it on TIGA's website.
